SnipSnapSnute rocks 
I played around with MediaWiki but it didn't really suit my needs. I found it very specialised to the structure of an online pedia.
SnipSnap is perfect for more flexible and personal use. I was lookng for something that combined wiki and blog, and am a java programmer so this was just perfect.
It will be interesting if
Scarab (Amazingly flexible Issue Tracking webapp)- JAlbum (Organise and publish directories of photos)
- Gramps (Build family trees)
can be embedded and/or integrated in somehow. Maybe deploying in JBoss will be beneficial also (just alittle scared about RAM usage).
