Michael Semb Wever asked:

My 6Gb harddrive in my Dell Inspiron 3500 finally died. I'm looking for a replacement drive (maybe a Hitachi TravelStar 60Gb 7200RPM) but and scared that this old machine and bios will not support a large new harddrive.

I have upgraded the bios to PhoenixBios A14.

Will I be able to use a new and large 2.5" harddrive?

I'm running 2.6.x linux kernel.

Bay-Wolf replied:

A 60GB hard drive will work in your system. Check out this link. Leduke30 states that he has used a 60GB hard drive in his 3500. >>http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=insp_harddrive&message.id=35311&query.id=108189

I use the IBM (Hitachi) 7K60 hard drive and I love it. I definitely noticed the extra speed brought on by the 7200 RPM hard drive.
