Instructions on watching dvd or avi movies on Linux.

Watching DVDs

The program to use is Ogle. It isn't currently in the Gnome menu so you'll have to type "ogle" into a terminal window (right-click on the desktop -> open terminal).

Watching AVIs (downloaded movies)

Both MPlayer or Totem player are programs good. Totem player has the icon
totem
MPlayer isn't currently in the Gome menu but often has the icon
mplayer
You sometimes have to try both because the each support and handle the many different video formats differently...

Troubles on the laptop

eselect opengl set ati
use gmplayer making sure that video is using gl2
